Requirements for a journalist VISA:

- Letter of invitation from CIAM (government press centre – see below), faxed to the consulate or the embassy where you apply for the visa.
- Letter of employment
- Copy of passport including South African resident permit/work permit
- Two colour passport photos
Visa takes 5 working days to be issued and costs 750 rand. The consulate will provide banking
details for payment when they have checked all your documents.
How To Obtain The CIAM Invitation
To obtain the CIAM invitation you need to fax them a letter stating your desire to work as a journalist in Angola for a specific period of time, give broad outline of stories, include your name, ate of birth, country of passport, passport number, date issued and expires and fax number of
embassy to which it must be sent. Once you arrive in Angola we understand you're supposed to ive a call to CIAM to let them know you're there.

And FYI -- according to the website:
If the real intention of a visitor to Eritrea is to work, a work permit must be applied for.
Work permit is given on the basis of the following documentation (should not enter on a tourist visa):
• A passport with validity of more than a year
• There must be an agreement by the Department of Labor of the State of Eritrea
and the host employer should be a legally recognized and licensed entity in Eritrea
• Must submit authenticated documented in case dependants accompany the would-be employee in Eritrea

Under new visa application procedures, all applicants must first apply online at:
http://www.immigration.gov.ng/.
The Nigerian consulate in Illovo, Johannesburg requires this online application and online
payment (fees in US dollars) before processing any visa. There are no visas processed through the
Nigerian Embassy in Pretoria.

As of 2007, contact at the External Information Council at the Foreign Journalists Department
was Ms Sumaya El Hadi. Our understanding is that all journalist visa applications via Pretoria
